I currently teache Social Science and Career Technical Education classes in the Arts, Media & Entertainment Pathway at Launch Virtual Academy in San Diego. Bellow you can find basic course descriptions and a downloadable copy of the syllabus for each class. Students can access class assignments, resources and materials, via Canvas.

Human Geography

World Geography is a 2 semester course that focuses on geographic perspectives, population, migration, language, religion, identity, agriculture, industry, human rights and sustainability as they relate to the world we live in.


 

World History

The course emphasizes national identity, constitutional heritage, and citizenship as they relate to modern world history from the late 1700s to the present. It exercises varied study, visual, map/globe, and critical-thinking skills. The curriculum is designed to increase students’ capacity to think analytically and critically.

 

Digital Photography

This course covers basic concepts and practices of digital photography, including understanding and use of cameras, lenses, and other basic photographic equipment. The course will address aesthetic principles as they relate to composition, space, exposure, light and color. Technological aspects of digital formats and resolutions will also be addressed. In addition, basic digital manipulations of images will be taught in preparation for creating an online portfolio.

 

Multimedia

This course provides an opportunity for continuing students of photography to hone their craft and unleash their creativity. Students will be challenged with various photography assignments in different genres. Students can expect to learn advanced photographic concepts and techniques such as storytelling methods, advanced studio lighting techniques, and PS enhancements.

 

TV & Film

This course provides entry level training in the TV, Film & Digital Media. Instruction covers the following areas of Computer Multimedia Applications, Media Production, Pre-Production and Post-Production, Distribution and Formats and Digital Audio Production. Students will use computers, video cameras, tripods, microphones, lights, and industry software: Final Cut Express. Approximately 260 hours are needed to complete this course.

 

Economics

Economics is a one semester course that focuses on the decision making of individuals, businesses, and the government. Students will study a variety of economic theories and systems and analyze their practical application in the real world. As a senior-level course, successful completion of Economics is a Graduation Requirement in the SUHSD.
